RE: Powerstroke 6.0 L Surging

Turbo froze up? Or is a turbo hose leaking? A lot of times is the vgt solenoid on the turbo, in some cases egr valve can cause this.
TSB?

RE: Question for SuperGlide Owners

PullRite has the adapter plates that allows non-Pullrite to tow you. Not an issue in over 4 years of using one. In addition, the unbolting of the kingpin mounted angle plate on my Jayco takes just a few minutes, and many commercial heavy duty tow trucks carry the PullRite adapter. I don't remember how, but there have been several postings here regarding a pullrite superglide hitch towing a non-superglide equipped 5er, too. :B

RE: Dogs ... Dogs ... Dogs!!!

Between 100,000 and 200,000 years ago, the first species that would become Humans walked around, pooping on other peoples grass and piddling on their trees. These primitive human ancestors no doubt stole food right out of the hands of lessor animals, and made so much noise that the neighbors were extremely annoyed. And now we're complaining about another species? How soon we forget! :B

RE: Entry Level Recommendations For A Friend

What is he going to be towing this with? What is the max tow rating? How much is he going to spend?
He will likely need a roomy model, with a good size bed for mom and dad, maybe a slide out for the room needed on a rainy day or at night.

RE: 2009 Eclipse Milan with SERIOUS safety issues

National Highway Transportation and Safety Administration Let these guys know immediatly! If it saves just one life, it's worthwhile!
Eclipse RV builds the Attitude line, and claim to have 50 Years of experience building RV's. This means they may have 5 guys working there with 10 years of RV building experience, or 50 guys with one year each of experience!
And buyer beware!
Here is the BBB criteria that earns a company an "F" rating .. do you know of any TH manufacturers that fit the description? Eclipse.
From the Riverside County BBB- Grade for Eclipse RV Manufacturing-F "We strongly question the company’s reliability for reasons such as that they have failed to respond to complaints, their advertising is grossly misleading, they are not in compliance with the law’s licensing or registration requirements, their complaints contain especially serious allegations."
And-"MANTECA — Three men affiliated with Best RV here are accused of fraud, embezzlement and other crimes related to unfair business practices, according to County prosecutors.
Court papers name eight alleged victims, including people from Manteca, Modesto and Ceres.
The district attorney's office recently filed a 28-count complaint against Naiel Majed Ammari, Nabeel "Bill" Majed Ammari and Nazeh Majed Ammari. All but six of the counts are felonies."
This is the Best RV BBB Official Report...not good!
:S :h :( :E It really does pay to check this stuff out! Before you buy!

RE: Just me and the wife

We've been camping for all of the 22 years we've been married, and I've been camping with rv's for 30 years. Our kids are to the point (17 girl, 19 boy) where they are balking at going anymore, prefering to stay with their friends or work. So we'll be joining the newly "kidless" rvers very soon!

RE: Best caulking ???

Once the object is mounted some of the putty tape or butyl caulking will leak out the sides. To remove the excess putty you can purchase a "putty pick" at your local hardware store or a pen lid works quite well. Once the excess putty has been removed you can now run a bead of white caulking* around your object.
Don't forget that household silicones are not designed to stick to metal or for outdoor use. Be sure to use a parbond based product or a marine grade* silicone. These products are readily available at your local RV supply store.
Vulkem is a parbond product, and this site links to Marine Grade Silicone suppliers.

What hooked you on camping...and your fondest memory?

When my brother and I were around 10 years old, my grand father and grand mother always took us summer camping in Yosemite, Sequoia or a local campground O'Neill Park in Trabuco Canyon. In a black 1965 Rambler Classic 660 Station wagon! Grandpa had a huge green army tent, complete with a billion ropes anchored to the ground by stakes, and army cots to sleep on. The cots were canvas and wood, and squeeked everytime you moved. Campfire cooking, and some of grandpa's famous corned beef "Slumgullion" in a big cast iron stew pot over the fire. Yum! :B
He taught us to respect the outdoors, cleanup the campsite better than it was when we got there, and enjoy nature! We had a lot of fun, and adventures around every bend in the road. And I passed this all on to my kids...and we are all enjoying the camping experience, I don't knowif I miss the "tent experience" anymore, but a fifth wheel Jayco is a long, long way from roughing it!
How 'bout you?! :W

RE: Broken Pipe

It's black ABS, glued with ABS cement. Parts are readily available at Home Depot. From a RV.NET poster..."Almost all black and gray water pipes are made from ABS or PVC plastic. The joins between pipes are almost always glued and must be cut apart and new pipe spliced in to effect repairs."

RE: Hood vent do you have one?

There are vent hoods that do not vent to the outdoors. They "trap" the grease and odors in a internal mesh screen. You have to wash the screen occasionally. It is a prime example of the RV manufacturer cutting corners to save a few pennies.
We run our external vented hood whenever we use the stove or oven to make sure carbon monoxide doesn't build up inside the rv. And it vents moisture when boiling water. The hood you have might be capable of being vented to the outside, as often the "knock out plug" on back of the hood, if removed and an exterior vent installed in the rv wall, will vent to the exterior. Depending on the vent hood model.

RE: Which lightweight tt would be best for a Subaru Forester?

An Amelia is 1800 lbs completely empty. It may be a bit more than you can safely tow when loaded with gear, including the weight of the passengers in the car, fuel, luggage, etc. But this Aliner can work, light and well made, compact yet full featured, no canvas. Aliner
How many people are you going to have camping with you? How long will you be staying at a campground on average?

A Reese dual cam includes a integrated sway control, and a weight distribution can be added at install. An all in one system. Go with the longest wheel base truck, most powerful engine, and 3.73 rear end.

I used E-Bay to buy something, PayPal fraud alert!

I bought a RV part for my Jayco from E-Bay last week.
As always, a knowledgeable consumer is always careful. I retired after 30 years as a cop...and I almost (I said almost ;)) fell for a official looking e-mailed PayPal notice that came for me. It said someone had fraudulently used my PayPal account, and to make sure that I hadn't been defrauded I needed to fill out a form and return it. It had security seals all over it to lure you into actually believe it was authentic! Very, very well done and professional in appearance. I noted that at the top of the page, the "http://www." address was not a Paypal address.
I forwarded it to Ebay/PayPal for their fraud division. No reputable company will ever solicit you for personal info, credit card numbers, ID, Social Security info, address, passwords, etc. The FBI says they believe that the Nigerian Students are becoming more sophisticated in their efforts to defraud, so always be aware! I noticed that not a single reference was in the e-mail that I got, regarding their "diposed King dying" leaving millions of dollars to me! Just a friendly reminder to my RV.Net buddies! :B

RE: 2008 Jayco23B vs. 2003 23B What to do?

And in addition to the above, with a brand new '08 Jayco is the Jayco 40th anniversary model with a lot of extra stuff, LCD TV, Power Carefree awning, special fabrics, pleated shades...and that "new car smell"! We're on our 7th Jayco so far, can't go wrong with either new or used...but as said above, new is a special treat you deserve!
